How It Started

Rob and I met on September 9, 2005 at Nolan's, a bar in the Washington DC neighborhood of Adams Morgan. I had gone to the bar for my good friend, Angelica's, going away party. The night before I had been on a date that went well, but nothing very exciting, I was telling my friends about the date when I spotted Rob through the crowd. I said to my friends, "There. See him. Why can't I date a guy like that?" After a few more drinks, I finally worked up enough courage to go up to him. I asked how he knew Angelica; he said "they were in the coast guard together", which was weird because I knew Angelica wasn't in the coast guard! I told him this and he offered to by me a drink and there at the bar, he looked at me a certain way and I knew that there was something very special there. That night we ignored all of our friends and just hung out with each other. We then saw each other the next day when we went to the Adams Morgan Street festival together. The rest, as they say, is history.
