Ceremony and Reception
Both our ceremony and reception will be held at the Twentieth Century Club in Oakland, PA. We toured a few venues including the Children's Museum, Heinz History Center, Springwood, Andy Warhol Museum, the Frick, the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts, and the Twentieth Century Club. Out of all of these we fell in love with the Heinz History Center and the Twentieth Century Club. The History Center's catering is much more expensive than the Twentieth Century Club is, and that made our decision.
The club is absolutely beautiful! It has exquisite details, and was built in the early 1900s. The club was originally dedicated "to the purpose of creating an organized center for women's work, thought and action and the advancement of her interests and the promotion of science, literature and art." I am a proud women studies graduate, so the purpose of the club really resonated with me.
Since the club's Web site needs some revamping, I gathered some pictures from past weddings. For my inspiration slide show, please see Heather and Chris' wedding from photographer Joanne Bartone's blogs. If you look at the slide show, my ceremony and reception will both be happening in those same rooms. I really hope to recreate the way Heather and Chris have decorated the ceremony space. Below I have added additional pictures of the reception space.
